Cummins Distribution Business Unit: Indianapolis Office

Indianapolis, IN

Cummins Inc., founded in 1919, needed a distribution center near Indianapolis International Airport during their US distributor acquisition. The new innovative distribution headquarters includes office space for 500 employees, a conference center, parking garage, and 15,000 SF of retail space. The nine-story, post-tensioned concrete tower features a carefully calibrated façade with integrated fins and shades to reduce heat gain and glare while maximizing transparency and views. Double-height social hubs with signature staircases promote collaboration, and narrow floor plates ensure natural lighting throughout. The sculpted tower, with its inflections and projections, adds a striking landmark to the city.

“The Wilhelm team has been an asset since the beginning of the project. We are quite pleased that we brought them on board as a construction manager at risk. It is the only way we are able to achieve the timeline, schedule, and quality that we desired. I would be remiss not to mention what a good partner they have been when dealing with challenges. They are always part of the solution and often bring up issues or challenges to our attention which ultimately allows us to resolve in a timely manner.”
