Cummins Parking Garage

Columbus, IN

Wilhelm served as part of the Design-Build team for this five-level, 954-car parking structure. The garage was built on geopiers as a cast-in-place structure. Construction was completed nearly one month ahead of schedule with no accidents and no injuries.

Architecturally, the façade features a green screen system of panelized planting boxes with growing ivy to block the view of cars on each level. Each stair tower is wrapped in curtain wall glazing. Wilhelm performed the following tasks: concrete, miscellaneous iron work, and carpentry. The design solution simultaneously respects the garage’s historic surroundings while advancing the city’s reputation as a haven for contemporary design.
